What is Zanshindo?
Zanshindo
(The Zanshin Way) - Zanshin is defined as a calm, focused state of total
awareness allowing complete attention to the moment: the focusing of
the mind (without thought or emotion) on everything in and around you.
Zanshindo (aka McCullough Submission Fighting) is a modern mixed martial
art combining the most realistic & effective training methods &
techniques of several martial arts into a single comprehensive Hand-To-Hand
Combat System. It is primarily composed of striking from Muay-Thai Kickboxing
(evasive movements, punches, kicks, elbows, & knees), & grappling
from Jiu Jitsu (submissions, takedowns, escapes, & chokes), as well
as elements from Freestyle Wrestling, Aikido, Sambo, & others. Zanshindo
is an excellent practice to help develop personal character, confidence,
and calmness through rigorous training which will challenge each student
individually, and systematically raise the limits of personal performance-
both mentally and physically.
Our
belief is that by practicing Zanshindo and developing the ability to
remain calm and focused under the extreme duress of dealing with an
individual who is violent and out of control, you will find yourself
applying this same ability when faced with an out of control vehicle,
relationship, or any life situation.
